Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Kalinga University organized two day International Conference on the theme “Global Crises in the Present Scenario” in Collaboration with Government J. YoganandamChhattisgarh College on 2nd and 3rd December, 2022. The International Conference was sponsored by LIC of India, Jindal Steel and Power Limited, Sagar TMT, Sultan Chand (P) Limited and Health Partner NH MMI Narayana ultispecialty Hospital. Over 250 registrations were done and more than 100 participants presented their research papers.

The Conference commenced with lighting of lamp and Saraswati Vandana. Ms. Shreya Dwivedi was themaster of the ceremony. Mr. Ravi Bhagat, DGM Marketing Head of NHMMI Narayana, Mr Ashok Thakur, Senior Divisional Manager of LIC India and Mr. Sanjay Kumar Kanjode from LIC were present as Guests for the 1st day. Mr. Rahul Singh, Retired Deputy Director, Department of Culture, Government of Chhattisgarh along with Mr. Naval Shukla, Chairman of Adiwasi and Lok Kala Academy, Government Chhattisgarh and Dr. Amitabh Banerjee, Principal, Govt. J Yoganandam Chhattisgarh College, Raipur, were the eminent guests for the 2nd day of the conference. Opening remarks were presented by Dr. Sandeep Gandhi, Registrar of Kalinga University where he highlighted some issues on Global Crisis related to hunger and poverty. He presented the horrific pictures of the global conflicts from child abuse to Covid-19 and climate change. Dr. R Shridhar, Vice Chancellor of the University threw light on BMJ (British Medical
Journal) reports.

Where, he addressed major health issues related to cardiac arrest, skin cancer, human
trafficking and terrorism. Furthermore Dr Byju John, Director General of Kalinga University mentioned the outcome of every crisis which comes with an opportunity. Convener of the conference from Government J. Yoganandam college Dr. Kirti Tiwari welcomed all the dignitaries and guests with her welcome speech and gave an insight to
the conference. Later Chief Guests Mr. Ravi Bhagat quoted Sadhguru’s teachings in his speech to motivate people to take action on self care and to save the environment. Guest of Honour Mr. Ashok Kumar shared his experience of the struggle during Covid times for saving lives. Inaugural ceremony concluded with Dean Dr. Shilpi Bhattacharya’s vote of thanks.

The Technical session commenced with Professor Amit Agrawal address from IIIT Naya Raipur where he highlighted Unicorns in India, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and Volatile Uncertain Complex Ambiguous (VUCA) on the topic “Entrepreneurship in Crisis”. He wrapped his presentation with his ideology “Humans at the end are stories and stories are worth only when there is a crisis”.


The 2nd Technical Session was taken by Dr. Sayan Dey from York University, Canada presented online on the topic “Racial Crisis, Ecological Crisis and Artworks” where he discussed how European colonization affected diversity and dictated the way of living. He also mentioned how art work plays a vital role in shaping people’s point of views. He summed up the presentation with the thought “Visual Projection can be very powerful”.


On day two of International Conference Mr. Terry Holley from USA presented the 3rd Technical Sessionon the “Covid-19 and the Impact in America”. He shared his experiences of pandemic times where he observed that Covid vaccine was the fastest distributing vaccine in the history of America and alerted the people to take care of each other as there is a lot to lose. He shared the downfall of the global economy and appreciated frontline workers during the global crisis. His fiancée Meagow Holley also shared her lockdown experiences with the participants. They advised people to choose their decisions wisely.


Dr. C.M. Mukharjee, Retired Professor of English took the 4th and last technical session of the conference where he suggested some perspectives and solutions to all the crises and problems of this world. He shared his wisdom with all participants by his vast experience of more than 53 years and enlightened everyone.


After the end of the technical session, a parallel paper presentation was held on three different venues in hybrid mode i.e. online and offline where participants presented their abstracts, concepts and conclusion. Prof. Piyush Kumar, Dr. ACP Tripathi, Dr. Anita Juneja, Dr. Sangeeta Singh, Dr. Shraddha Pandey, Dr. Archana Yadav and Dr. Girija Shankar Gautam were present as our esteemed Chairpersons for all parallel paper presentations. Almost 100 participants presented their papers on this two day conference where 40 participants presented their papers on the 1st day and the rest 60 presented on the 2nd day.


A Special theatre play was presented by students of Arts & Humanities on the Tribal Scenario of Chhattisgarh written by Habib Tanvir, one of the most popular Indian Urdu, Hindi playwrights, a theatre director, poet and actor. Dr. Vineeta Diwan and Dr. Ajay Shukla were the incharge of the play. Conferenceproceeding was launched on the valedictory ceremony by all dignitaries. Ms. Geetika Bramhbhatt read the report of the conference in the concluding valedictory ceremony.


Overall coordination of the International conference was taken care of by Ms. Geetika Bramhbhatt, Assistant Professor of Journalism and Mass communication. Technical support was provided by Mr Rajkumar Das. Registrations were taken care by Mr Sheikh Abdul Kadir, Ms Wafi Ahmed and Mr Chandan Rajput. Kit comprised of Ms Jesika Minj, Mr. Shubhankar and Ms Archana Nagwanshi. Food Committee comprised of Dr. A Vijayanand and Dr A Rajshekhar.

Technical Session was conducted by Dr Anita Samal and Ms Aakriti Dewangan. Certificate distribution was managed by Dr Vijay Bhushan and Ms Madhumita Ghosh. Delegates Hospitality was managed by Dr Ajay Shukla and Ms L Jyoti Reddy. Welcome and Stage was managed by Dr Namrata Shrivastava, Dr Shraddha Hirkane and Ms Tuhina Choubey. Discipline was taken care by Mr A.K Kaul, Ms Marieta Jagdalla and Dr Manoj Mathew. Volunteers of different departments were present along with students and other delegates.
