Kalinga University Organized Award Ceremony for the Students Showcasing Best Business Plan

Raipur. Kalinga University, Raipur is a well-known Educational Institute in Central India that focusses on quality education, innovation and research to address the most pressing issues and to create an awareness regarding the contemporary research going around the state, the country and the global community. To take this endeavor ahead, the Innovation and Incubation Cell of kalinga University organized ‘COMBAT Business Plan’ event for the students of the University in collaboration with its knowledge partners. In order to be the catalyst for entrepreneurial development, Kalinga University organized a prize distribution ceremony for the students who were recognized for displaying best business ventures in ‘COMBAT Business Plan’.

As every auspicious occasion seeks the blessings of the lord, this event also started with the blessings of the Goddess of Wisdom by Sarasvati Vandana and lighting of the lamp. The prize distribution ceremony was marked by the eminent presence of Pro- Chancellor of the university- Mr. Sajjan Singh, Vice-Chancellor- Dr. R. Shridhar, Director General- Dr. Byju John, Registrar- Dr. Sandeep Gandhi, Dean Student Welfare- Dr. Asha Ambhaikar, Dean Faculty of Commerce and Management- Dr. Monika Sethi, Dean Academic Affairs- Mr. Rahul Mishra, Deans and Heads of various departments, Faculty members and students.The chief guest for the occasion was Shri. Prabhu, Director of Linkup Property Development Ltd, UK P Property Holding Ltd., UK and Spran International PTE Ltd. Singapore.

On this occasion Dr. Monika Sethi, Director of Kalinga University Innovation and Incubation cell explained the components of updated structure of course curriculum of the university with specific emphasis on mentoring faculty, upgrading the course according to the need of the industry and entrepreneurial development. With this vision in mind the Kalinga University Innovation and Incubation cell in collaboration with its knowledge partners, organized a ‘COMBAT Business Plan’ competition for the students of the university in which more than 55 students actively participated and presented their business models. She stated that this award ceremony is organized for the students who were recognized to display best business plans in the ’COMBAT Business Plan’ competition.

Dr. Sandeep Gandhi, Registrar of the university addressed the gathering in the award ceremony and said that ‘Start-up, Stand-up India’ is a flagship initiative of the Government of India. Kalinga University has always taken initiative for fulfilling this mission which cultivates entrepreneurial spirit in the university. Kalinga University is always blessed with young talented students who have brilliant start-up ideas and are looking to convert these into successful ventures. The start-up policy of the University will not onlyempower young graduating students but provide motivation to promote start-up ecosystem inthe state of Chhattisgarh.

Dr. R. Shridhar, Vice- Chancellor of the University said that Kalinga University Innovation and Incubation Cell envisions to empower start-up environment in the institution by enabling students towards conceptualization of new ideas and creation of viable innovative products with the help of new age technologies. With a Mission to nurture start-ups with the infrastructure, mentorship and support to evolve successfully in ethical and sustainable manner, the cell opens gateway to the students to realize their entrepreneurial dreams.

Dr. Byju John, Director General of the University congratulated the students and stated that Kalinga University aims to coordinate, synergize and leverage various strands of excellence driving innovation and entrepreneurship in a thriving ecosystem consisting of research at the cutting edge of science and technology. He also emphasized that Kalinga University Innovation and Incubation Cell is a highly successful body facilitating industrial interactions, and incubation in various sectors.

Mr. Sajjan Singh, Pro- Chancellor of the University addressed the gathering and said that Innovation is the vehicle which will steer the next level of economic growth and social development. Kalinga University Innovation and Incubation Cell is formed with the intention to advance the novel ideas of start-ups and early-stage companies. It is a business incubator with focus on technology sectors. The mandate of the cell is to assist entrepreneurs of the University community to commercialize their product/service ideas and accelerate economic growth.

The chief guest for the occasion was Shri. Prabhu, Director of Linkup Property Development Ltd, UK P Property Holding Ltd., UK and Spran International PTE Ltd. Singapore expressed his gratitude to be a part of this award ceremony. He congratulated the students of the winning business plans and said that this type of activity would definitely motivate, build and promote out of box thinking, development of innovative ideas among students of the University. It would also help to build an environment that will facilitate the creation of social enterprise knowledge through research and empower students to apply their entrepreneurship abilities to develop solutions for greater social impact through academia.

In this award ceremony Mr. Ankit Singh got the first position and received a prize money of Rs. 10000/-. He submitted a report of Dried Flowers Business Idea. Mr. Mojahidul Islam and Mr. Avneesh Kumar bagged the second position and received a prize money of Rs. 2500/- each. They submitted a business plan on the import and export of pet animals. Mr. Akshay Kumar got third position and received a prize money of Rs. 2500/-. He submitted a business plan on the concept of flying kitchen for working women. A prize money of 1000/- each was declared as consolation prizes to seven participants of the competition. The students receiving consolation prizes are B. Sai Naveen, Amit Kumar, Sankalp Singh, Neha, Prateek, Naysha and Sujata Nayak.

At the end of the award function, vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Asha Ambhaikar, Dean Student Welfare. Dr. Ajay Shukla, Dr. Shilpi Bhattacharya, Ms. Smita Premanand, Dr. Hindole Ghosh, Mr. Harsh Khare facilitated the event co-ordination. Mr. Kapil Kelkar was the master of the ceremony.
