Department of Economics under the umbrella of Faculty of Arts & Humanities organized a one-day National Webinar on “Vocal for Local: An Economic Foundation of Self- Reliant India”. The webinar was organized with the motto of imparting knowledge to the students with regards to the importance of achieving the goal of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India). The session was conducted online on the Google Meet platform on 12th March 2022 at 11:00 a.m. onwards. The session was supervised by the Dean, Faculty of Arts & Humanities and the organizing secretary of the webinar, Dr. Shilpi Bhattacharya. The Keynote speaker of the webinar was Dr. Ajeet Kumar Sahoo, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Central University of Haryana, Mahendragarh.  The webinar began with the welcome of all the dignitaries and the participants by Ms. Pragati Krishnan, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics and the Co-Convener of the webinar. The keynote speaker of the session Dr. Ajeet Kumar Sahoo delivered his lecture by giving informative and thought-provoking knowledge about the topic “Vocal for Local”.

Through PowerPoint presentation, he emphasized on the various segments of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat. He further discussed about the Economic effects of Vocal for Local through the aggregate demand and the aggregate supply effects. Dr. Sahoo has also enlightened the students about the two facets of vocal for local with the notion of cutting down the dependency on imports and to take local brands to global arena. He further explained the path dimensions of self-reliant India through Start-up India, Skill India and Make in India policies. The session was ended with the question answer round and the students  very enthusiastically participated in it. Dr. Namrata Shrivastava, Assistant Professor of Economics and the Convener of the webinar proposed the vote of thanks. The webinar received  very positive feedbacks and  the students also  expressed their  keen interest and  wishes  of attending similar informative webinars in the future.
